Cycling around Maridalsvannet

Cycling around Maridalsvannet

Today I went for a long bike ride (nearly 35 km) through the forest and around Maridalsvannet, a large lake north of Oslo (and the source the city’s drinking water).

This is before I got to Maridalsvannet though, a much smaller lake in the forest…

Spectacular view over Maridalsvannet – so pretty!

Great view over Maridalsvannet!

I wasn’t the only one out for a bike ride on this sunny Sunday 🙂

Lots of cyclists around on a sunny Sunday

Parts of the ride went through farmlands, I loved it! There were lots of flowers around as well, and I particularly enjoyed cycling downhill with the wind in my hair and the sweet smell of flowers in my nose – life is good 😀

Four photos from my bike ride in the forest today. Spring is here, but last week the weather was unusually cold and it even snowed a couple of times (meanwhile in Tromsø it was 17 degrees… crazy!). Yesterday it rained non stop so I was glad when the sun came out again today. I’m excited that the hiking and biking season has started again 🙂

Bike ride at sunset

I am in the Netherlands right now, and a couple of days ago I went for a bike ride before dinner, around sunset. From my parent’s place, it only takes about 5 minutes to cycle to the entrance of National Park Zuid-Kennemerland. In the park, no cars are allowed so it’s a great place for walking or cycling. It was a beautiful evening…

De Oosterplas, a nearby lake Cycling towards the coast at sunset

While the sun was setting, a nearly full moon was rising behind me. I walked up to a high dune with a viewpoint on top, for some great views of the orange sunset.

Cycling back I passed the Vogelmeer (Bird Lake) which didn’t get its name for nothing 😉 There were two swans near the shore, while the water was reflecting the pink colour of the sky. Very pretty 🙂

After that I had to rush back home, but I took another photo of the sunset that was turning red.
